My husband was hospitalized at Manor Care for rehab care. after sustaining a fracture after a fall. The physical therapy he received was very good .The nursing care from RN's was competent and adequate. The main deficiency of the facility was the response by aides to call lights and requests. In that respect the facility was deficient. However, that situation is common to the entire industry. Finding a facility that actually provides adequate care is impossible without having had personal experience. The Medicare rating system does not adequately review these services. Other positives about this facility were cleanliness and having a private room. The food service made a special effort to provide meals that were customized to a patient's requests. My husband enjoyed the food even though it was always very bland.

this review is for Manor Care located on Rossmore parkway (1/4 block away from another manor care). Manor care has a strong referral program with John Muir, even implying that John Muir doctors call on Manor Care patients. Nothing could be further from the truth. With John Muir's referral, we sent our mother, 92 year old active women who had suffered a stroke. She left John Muir in good spirits and good health. Within 2 days, we noticed a lack of response - to the point that we thought about contacting elder abuse. We hired a CNS from Hillendale service (excellent) and they were yelled at when advocating for our mom. Within 4 days, she became incredibly constipated and asked for help - the nurses urged her to drink more water. Within 7 days, she developed a fistula, where the bowels breaks into the vagina and poop starts coming out of the vagina. We took her back to Muir, where they created a colostomy for the wound to heal. Within 2 days of her return, she developed a bed sore, that grew to encompass the area just above thebutt. The so called "John Muir" doctors claimed that the sore developed at John Muir - a blatant lie. By now, we realized how sick manor care was and transferred her to Pleasant Hill Acute, where she spent a year recovering from the manor care bed sore. My advice - do not send a love one here - it is a place to die and not get well. Manor care is in bankruptcy, so that should serve as a indicator of care and service.
