Excited, based on a friend's great glasses, I took my RX to Blink DC. After selecting a tortoise shell frame, the Blink store manager entered the discussion and encouraged me to "mod up" some, and showed me a nice looking Robert Marc frame in black, with contrasting inside. It looked very nice on me, I admit, and needing some verve, I went for it.

Shortly after purchase, the Robert Marc frame broke on the upper outer edge of the left frame, a half inch from the hinge. No problem, I thought, I'll go back to Blink for replacement. "No such luck". But these were bifocals, and expensive" "Sorry". So I called Robert Marc, NYC and spoke with the lens manager. He told me there was a defect on these frames, with breakage where I described it, but that I'd have to get a replacement through Blink. "Your kidding right? No." "But they've said they will do nothing" "Well then your out of luck". Out of $260.00, time, and bifocals.

I paid an additional $60 at Blink's suggestion to apparently the only man in Washington DC who fixes frames (the Frame Doctor) for a small wire to connect the broken frame in that location. As he warned me it wouldn't, the job didn't last a week.

Thus I can confidently post on Consumer CheckBook that with respect to Blink of Washington DC, it's buyer beware. if your frames/lens works all is fine. But if the frame breaks, even with receipt and within a short period of time, your out of luck.

Do you think the last minute interjection by the store manager of that Robert Marc frame was to unload them? Yes, It's crossed my mind too.
