I went to Dr. Firestone. He has a nice bedside manner but always seemed to be in a rush to get to his next patient. He prescribed orthotics which helped somewhat but did not solve the problem. When I came back, he wanted to do a procedure called Topaz which involved burning the bottom of my foot. I did some research and the literature was not compelling. His assistant kept calling me over and over to schedule the procedure pronto. That scared me off. I am related to 12 physicians and have learned that anyone who pushes patients to operate in a non-emergency situation should be avoided. As my father (a physician) says about over-eager surgeons, "If you have trained to use a big hammer, the whole world looks like a nail."
