I began by using Consumer Checkbook to find the top Titlement companies in my area. After shopping around for a refi settlement service and contacting 8 other title companies, I spoke with Howard Parker. Village was a little far away, but it was highly rated. Mr. Parker took nearly 30 minutes to discuss and research my situation. He matched the best rate I had found with another title company - even after realizing the title insurance would be higher because the house was located in DC and not MD. Overall he saved me $600 and was happy to answer all my questions. I'll use them again if I need settlement services. I just wish Consumer Checkbook would make this a full category with more than just member comments...
