Dave (Owner) has been a gem to the community. When other shops misdiagnose, he always gets it right! which is why we have stuck with him for over 27 years.

I have been taking our cars to Dave at Glen Dale for probably about a decade, and you would be hard pressed to find a mechanic anywhere as knowledgeable and honest as they are. We just brought in an older Jetta, knowing that it needed pads/rotors, but also with some undiagnosed sounds and issues. Unable to reproduce all of the problems, he asked to keep the car an additional day to give it more diagnostic and drive time, completed the repairs, and basically only charged us for a tune-up and the brakes. None of those additional diagnostics were charged.

On a prior occasion, I had brought another vehicle in with a laundry list of repairs that had been recommended at the last dealer service, many of which we had deferred until we could get the vehicle in to Glen Dale. We were informed that about 70% of what was on the list was unnecessary work. The remaining items were done, and we left with a fraction of the bill (and the car running great).

There are two down-side factors to consider with this shop. First, though well intentioned, it is not infrequent that repairs are not completed in one day, so a planning for a couple of days of your vehicle being out-of-commission is prudent. Secondly, their communication of status of the repair, and frankly the costs, is somewhat lacking. Often they will undertake the work and you'll find out about the final on pickup, though I expect in my case some of that comes with the familiarity of us having been a customer for so long.

That said, in ten+ years, I have never been overcharged, I have never felt like any liberties were taken in a repair, and I have absolute faith and confidence in Glen Dale to do quality work and back it up. If you're looking for an honest mechanic, you've found one.
