The project included installation of approximately $10,000 worth of plants and pruning. The responsiveness of staff was woefully inadequate; it took about 3 weeks for me to make contact a design person who then disappeared for the next two weeks. The installation of plants was more or less satisfactory, but the follow up was non-existant on a number of matters which required adjustment and/or correction. One issue was the pruning of a very old and valuable camelia included in the original contract; this was more a beheading than a professional pruning job. When I complained about it, I was told it would be redone. I insisted that I be present; I was very firm about this. When I returned from an emergency out of town trip, I found that the pruning had been redone -- again a horrendous job -- but in order to do this, the workman had broken into my back yard through locked fence. I was shocked that this would happen especially since I had been so insistent that I be present when the second pruning was done. The camilia now requires extreme pruning at additional cost and will take several years to recover. The subsequent follow up from the landscape division of American Plant was extraordinarily slow and when it occurred non responsive in the extreme. I am now faced with the I was surprised at this experience since I have been a client of American Plant for about 30 years now and would have expected much better.
