Took my Ford Explorer in for service due to check engine light, was told needed new transmission. Told service advisor to proceed with service , provided extended warranty information. I called the next day to confirm and to contact warranty company to arrange rental car , was told by advisor that he did not have warranty information. I then agreed to bring service warranty contract to advisor . Upon my arrival I was asked by service manager to go to sales floor because he needed to speak to me. I was then told that the service technician had taken my car for a test drive and totaled my car. I could not understand why the technician had taken the car for this test drive when I had already been told I needed to have the transmission replaced. I had hoped that the work was already in progress. The service manager apologized and I was told that their insurance provider would be handling this situation . A rental car was provided for me and I was told I would be properly compensated for my loss and trouble by 2 separate Managers. I was contacted by the insurance adjuster and was told that I would receive Blue Book value for my loss and no more. I researched all of the Koon's dealerships and thought I had found a suitable replacement , which was 2 thousand dollars more. Thinking that these people would be willing to try to WOW Me for my trouble they had been responsible for , well it did not happen. After 10 days,I received a call from the service manager telling me that he had found a vehicle that might be a replacement for my totaled vehicle. My wife and I went to see this vehicle and were assigned a sales person , the service manager was no where to be found. This vehicle had an odor that reminded of a portable toilet and had 2 visible areas of damage . We told this sales person to tell the service manager that this was unacceptable . After 30 minutes he finally showed up , seemed displeased that we would not accept this wreck , then told me that the rental car needed to be returned by 5 pm the next day . At this time I had no check from the insurance company and no vehicle to drive. Extremely unprofessional from this dealer who claims to WOW their customers. Within a week I was contacted by the Vice President of sales for Koon's Ford she had asked me why I did not purchase this other vehicle that I had found as a possible replacement. When I responded to her request via email,I provided an explanation of what had transpired I never heard a response from her again . I left numerous messages but no response . Then my wife called her ,she had returned my wife' s message but when she called back my wife was unable to answer and went to voice mail . My wife returned her call but the Vice President of sales never / would not return her numerous messages. Unbelievable , unprofessional behavior from the largest car dealerships in the Washington Metro Area.
