When we were getting quotes the level of detail in their quote made it possible to get apples to apples comparisons. Their quote was the benchmark we used to push back on the other companies to get more details. Every aspect of their communications were stellar, and the work itself was neat and tidy. They replaced an old oil furnace among other things, and by the time they were done you wouldn't have known they had been there except for the new equipment now in place.

I have used Thomas D. Stern Air Experts on a number of occasions, most recently to replace a failing central AC unit. I contacted three different firms for this work - the first two spent about 5 minutes each at our home, mostly jotting down the specs for our existing system and providing near-instant estimates for updated replacements. Only Darren (the owner of Air Experts) took the time to ask me about the old system's performance and what I wish worked better - he then came up with a couple clever solutions to make everything work better going forward. I also noted and appreciated that his team was willing to partially dismantle and reassemble the components that had to be installed in the attic due to a somewhat small opening - the other two well-known firms informed me that I'd have to investigate and hire carpenters to open up the partition before they could do any work - of course then I'd have to have the opening repaired afterwards. Air Experts estimate was in line with the others but the service, timeliness, and friendliness of the crew makes them my number one choice.
