Judith, a Service personnel at Safford-Brown Honda, was rude to me on an earlier phone, and later in person when I picked up my repaired Honda Civic. ( I had a previous phone call with Judith, wherein I expressed shock at the price jump in ignition key replacement cost, from $50 a year earlier at Honda Bill Page, to now $170.00 (?) at Safford-Brown Honda.). When I arrived to pick up my car and I paid the cashier the repair bill for the car ignition work done at Safford-Brown Honda in Arlington, Virginia — which cost more than $1,750, I asked to speak to Judith in Service. Staff told me she was not there. It was a Saturday. I made a fuss about the flimsy key ring put on my Honda car ignition key, and asked for sturdier key ring. A staff worker laughed . I said, “how would you like your mother or sister to be treated this way?” Another worker complied and put on a sturdier key ring. Hearing my complaint to the workers hanging around the cashier / service desk, Judith now appeared from “back in the shop.” I complained to Judith, now in person, about the lack of information / explanation provided to me about my ignition repair/ replacement at Safford-Brown. Judith printed me a picture of an ignition assembly: it was of an E-Bay ignition, not a Honda assembly. I told this to Judith, and then asked for the ignition part they removed, Judith said it was thrown away. I protested about the way she was handling my request. She finally said “I’m done with you.” and she walked away. In Earlier days I had left voicemails for the owner and the service repair person to call me. I never heard back. I sent an email to the owner. I never had a reply. I wanted to officially complain somewhere but did not know where to do so. A friend got me the number of Honda corporation. I called them and they said they have no control over franchise Honda dealer ships. I am an elderly 82 years old woman with no knowledgeable male acquaintance to assist me in this repair bill . I feel I was treated rudely and taken advantage of my lack of knowledge.

For a dealership, Brown's (now Stafford Brown) prices are relatively reasonable. If you make an appointment and drop off the car early, you usually can get it back no later than early afternoon. They also have a convenient shuttle service that will drop you at a nearby metro or, if you live relatively close to the dealership, take you home and pick you up when the car is ready. Occasionally, they will recommend a service that is not immediately needed, such as changing the transmission fluid or radiator fluids. Although this is annoying, I still recommend them.

I've been taking my Hondas to Browns for the past 20 years. Service is always excellent, with additional free service of driving me home (I live within a few miles) and washing the car. My technician always calls to explain to me what needs to be done and the cost before they proceed.
