The dealership building is run down and cramped. They are in the midst of buying adjacent space that should improve the situation.

When I bought my Kia Telluride at what was then Fairfax Kia, as part of the deal, I was promised free oil changes for the life of the car. Evidently, the ownership of the Kia dealership changed so that now it is owned by Ourisman. The first time I brought my car in for service after the change of ownership, they said that the free oil changes applied only to ordinary oil, and that synthetic oil was required for my model. The extra charge for synthetic oil was as much as a complete oil change with regular oil would have cost at an outside service provider. Based on my experience and research synthetic oil has only marginal advantages. Nowhere in the owners manual is there any requirement for synthetic oil. My previous car, a Hyundai Santa Fe, is virtually a sister car to the Telluride. It was still going strong after nearly 200,000 miles on ordinary oil. After maybe 30 minutes of arguing with their service department, they agreed to honor the free oil change with regular oil. Meanwhile, my blood pressure had gone up by 40 points (figuratively). The next time I brought the car in for service I got basically the same song and dance, except that instead of just an oil change, they presented me with an invoice for over $1100 for various services that, according to my owners manual, we’re not required for many more months, if not years. Again, after a lot of arguing, and time spent looking through my owners manual, the dealership changed the oil at no charge to me, and threw in a free car wash. The service rep that I talked to also raised the ridiculous claim that Ourisman was not responsible for promises made by the previous owner of the Kia dealership. He said that it was like expecting Popeyes to have the same policies as a McDonald’s that it may have replaced. Of course, it is no such thing. It is more comparable to a McDonald’s Franchise changing owners’ hands. You would still expect the same prices and policies as at the previous owner’s and other McDonald’s. If you had a coupon from the previous McDonald’s it would still be valid. So, if you are looking for an argument and a hard upsell, instead of having your car serviced as you expected when you bought it, Ourisman is a good place to go.

When I bought my KIA Telluride a little over a year ago, the dealership offered free oil changes for life. Except for the expected attempts to upsell the free services, they provided the free oil changes and tire rotation as agreed. The last time I brought my car in for routine maintenance, they told me at first that they had discontinued the free oil changes because the dealership had changed owners. When I insisted that it didn't matter, that it was part of the deal that I made with the company, not the owners, they gave in but said that synthetic oil was recommended and that would be at extra cost. I insisted on regular oil, and they gave in on that point as well. I haven't been in since that time. I will be interested to find out if they are still intent on reneging on the service agreement. In any case, I think it's safe to say they are untrustworthy.
