When my car was totaled, I was faced with the daunting task of buying a replacement car fairly quickly, at a time when making such purchases was complicated by supply chain issues and consequent higher prices. I did a lot of research online before stepping into a dealership and even had a good idea of the inventory at each dealership. As a result, my initial visit to Brown's Manassas Subaru was very productive and resulted in me putting down a deposit to hold a vehicle then in transit. The disappointments came later, when there was a series of delays in delivery, yet when I asked for status (for example, was the vehicle in-country and scheduled to be inspected by customs), the dealership provided no information beyond an estimated delivery date. After the vehicle finally arrived, the purchase paperwork was handled reasonably well and quickly. However, like so many other retailers, the dealership tried several different times to sell me various extra vehicle protection packages. When I requested specifics about what the packages covered and excluded, the dealership did not provide that information. I cannot fault this dealership for trying to make more money by selling extra packages, but I do fault them for being so opaque. If you know what you want, this is not a bad dealership from which to purchase a Subaru. However, always bear in mind that you cannot believe what their salespeople say. You must be willing to do the work to verify everything for yourself - or risk having them take advantage of you.
