Executed a re-fi on a primary and secondary mortgage that I had with BB&T for a number of years. Mortgage processing staff were great, except for the underwriter, who could not comprehend the concept of a charge card that requires the entire balance to be paid of each month (Think Amex). I don't recommend BB&T because the rate they gave me was TERRIBLE, nearly a full percentage point higher than other lenders. One would think that BB&T would be interested in keeping a loyal customer who never missed a payment. One would be wrong. Nevertheless, I went with BB&T for ease of closing. I regretted doing so almost immediately afterward. BB&T rate was so high that I refinanced against later in the year with a provider than gave me a competitive rate that was 3/4% lower than BB&T. If you are a BB&T/SunTrust/Truist customer, and want to refinance an existing mortgage you have with them, look elsewhere. You'll get a much better rate.
