I have had an ongoing mortgage with Chase for over 12 years now, and just recently I had been planning a refinancing with my house. I went over to their offices and talked with one of their consultants. He walked me through all of their options, and he gave me his professional recommendations, and that was that. Excellent customer service, amazing performance, highly reccomend!

Chase is a big, nationwide lender, with lots of resources. So it's always worth considering. Like most people, we apply for a mortgage about once every ten years, so the main factors are reliability, available APRs, points, and so on. Chase had a good deal for us, the company is reliable and not likely to disappear, so all in all we're content. Their website is very easy to use, and makes online payments simple. A small complaint: For whatever reason, Chase credits our payment the day the online transaction is completed, but doesn't complete in the debit of my checking account for two or sometimes three business days later. This is an annoyance. On one occasion, a scheduled deposit from my employer was delayed by two business days. I had more than enough money in my account to cover the mortgage payment on the day I went online, but two automatic payments the following day depleted the balance and, on the third day, there was not enough in the account any longer, so my overdraft protection kicked in, rounded up in $100 increments, and I was charged a small fee. If giant JP Morgan Chase would complete the transaction on the day it is made, there never would be a problem. People without overdraft protection would find themselves having their mortgage account marked as late, and likely charged an insufficient funds fee, in a circumstance like mine, which would be grossly unfair if the client's account had sufficient funds in it at the time the online payment was accomplished. This is one example of ways in which very large commercial banks sometimes can do their "average" customers a disservice even if they don't intend it.
