We scheduled our February appointment to get our taxes done way in advance. We were on time and had all our paperwork with us. But our tax preparer had so many customers we had to wait and wait, and then he wound up not having time to finish our tax return. We wound up coming back 3 times before he got it done. While preparing our return he misplaced two documents with sources of income and so had to redo some of his work. Then, just as he was finishing, H&R Block's computers went down. We waited, but after a while when they didn't come back up he hand us a printout of our return, some envelopes and told us to mail in our return instead of having him file online. That led to a huge mess with the IRS after they shut down due to COVID and thus didn't process our return, or even acknowledge they had received it, for more than 6 months. We went back to H&R Block for help but they were of no use. Our preparer also charged us a lot more this year than last year even though our income dropped substantially. Bottom line: we're not going back to H&R Block again.
