Called to repair a malfunctioning door opener. The technician was polite and did his job well but did not keep me informed of what the cost of the suggested repair would be. After installing a new circuit board and testing it, a second board had to be installed because the first one did not work properly. After testing, the second board appeared to fix the issue. Then the bill came. The cost for the new board alone was more than the cost for a new opener (excluding installation), $225. Afterward I looked up the circuit board on the internet. The cost would have been $89-$100 for a new board. That is some mark-up, 225%-253%. At least my door is back in balance and the opener is functional again.
