If I were Diogenes, I could set down my lantern--I have seen the face of an honest man--only she's a woman: Pascale Maslin of Energy Efficiency Experts.
Pepco sends me "good girl" messages, and then suddenly, I'm worse than other comparable households. I had an energy audit 6 years ago, and thought perhaps something had deteriorated.
I misunderstood Pepco's home audit offer, and Pascale misunderstood that I had already used Pepco's rebate. She made an appointment promptly, showed up 5 minutes early. She checked the house and attic insulation and her able assistant was setting up all the heavy equipment for the blow test when she discovered that I was no longer eligible for the discount. I took a deep breath and said I could pay the full price. She said no, I didn't need it, and after looking at my Pepco usage history, said that my air conditioner needed compressor fluid and I could benefit from a timer on my dehumidifier. She repeatedly refused any payment, after giving me the advice I was looking for. I recommend EEE without reservation.

I'm very happy with the work and responsiveness in helping us achieve comfort in our home. We have a 1939 cottage in Bethesda that has a DIY upstairs addition and a later professional addition. Since the professional addition was done in 2010, we have noticed that the upstairs gets very hot in the summer and the 1st floor is uncomfortably cold in the winter. My wife and kids have complained for years, and finally I reached a breaking point. I was expecting a massive expense to tear walls, install insulation and buy all new windows. However, Pascale recommended doing a lot of basic attic insulation and leak sealing before looking into such major expenses. $4000 later (closer to $2900 after rebates), our upstairs no longer has that Amazon River basin vibe even in the heat of July. Our kids, who had been sleeping on couches in the summer, can now sleep in their beds again. Aside from that, Pascale's team is very professional, courteous, and neat.

Pascale came with an assistant to do full home energy audit under the Pepco program https://homeenergysavings.pepco.com/home-performance-with-energy-star-program/?utm_source=Pepco.com%2FHomes&utm_medium=Vanity_URL&utm_campaign=PHI_HPwES. They replaced many incandescent bulbs with LEDs and identified ways to improve comfort and efficiency of home - adding insulation, weather-stripping, ventilation. You pay $100 for this service and Pepco pays the rest. We decided to have the recommended work done. On a separate visit, Brendan, who is really on top of things, came with a small crew to complete the work. They were careful, consulted with us about any choices that had to be made, and cleaned up afterwards. Pepco will rebate us some of the cost of this work. I highly recommend Energy Efficiency Experts.
