ESW sells products with some attractive features, including foam that doesn’t give off any toxic or endocrine-disruptive chemicals and the wooden slat-based system for mattress support. Their prices are on the high side, and our first set of springs (a removable and replaceable component of the entire mattress) had a structural failure within the first year, with the cloth-encased coils pulling apart where they had been hot-glued together and where the most weight fell on them each night. Though we didn’t get around to complaining for a very long time, for six years, they replaced the defective springs for free. The bed feels pretty good now. Sometimes we wish we could have one of the mattresses we sleep on in motels but their labels explain that they’re a special edition made just for the motel chain. Another thing to consider is how recyclable used mattresses actually are in practice. Old mattresses are a curse of landfill, so best if they last for a very long time and are somehow recyclable! The more so the better.

Had Sleepworks mattresses for 30 years. They are super comfortable and non toxic, and you can repair aspects of them so as not to replace whole thing. Staff are great.

I've lived with chronic back problems for over 40 years... it's so bad, I must sleep on the floor most nights of the week. These folks were great with suggesting a bed and swapped out the first one in needing a harder mattress. They were so accommodating. Full disclosure. I still must sleep on the floor until the docs can figure this out. But European Sleepworks did a great job in our two visits. When I can and my back permits, I do enjoy sleeping on our bed!
