This business is, thankfully, near my home. Whenever I have a question about anything regarding my garden care they manage to either know or find me the information I need. The staff is very knowledgeable and personable. The prices on products is a little higher than the "big-box stores" like Home Depot and Lowe's but the trade-off in getting reliable information and product is more than worth the difference in price. An added bonus is that their location is in the same microclimate as our home, so they have concrete knowledge of how the various types of plants perform in our weather and soil situations. One drawback is that they do not have the "big-box" store "money-back guarantees": where if a purchased plant of any kind dies or fails to thrive within one year of purchase they will refund your purchase price. There is a Lowe's across the street where I have bought some popular, plentiful annuals when I want to plant in the spring. The Lowe's plants almost invariably do poorly and die. In one case I bought two tomato plants from Lowe's and they developed a tomato blight, which was contagious to other plants. They took back the plants and gave a full refund but, as a result, we had no tomatoes last summer. We were fortunate that a neighbor worked at a high-end nursery, recognized the blight right away and warned us to seal them in a plastic bag and return them to Lowe's. I bought three oregano plants at Lowe's; they dried up and died. I took them back and got three new plants. Same thing happened. I found the exact same variety of oregano, and from the same grower, at Flowercraft. Not only did they live they were vigorous and thrived beyond all expectation. Now my oregano patch is thick with stems and leaves for harvest. The small price difference was more than worth all the time, gas, planting effort and worry that the Lowe's plants caused. Hands down, Flowercraft is the best choice for anyone living in the southeast corner of SF.
