Service here is exceptional, including the fact that the store is neat and tidy and he knows his stock so well. This year he re-upholstered three chairs for us in fabric that coordinates with work he did last year. We are so pleased with the work and the look of the items.

He finished our two chairs faster than expected, and did a beautiful job. One chair needed only a small amount of fabric; he offered us a choice of remnants, at no additional cost, which saved the time of ordering and waiting for delivery. Strongly recommended!

We brought our couch cushions to have the foam replaced. Soam showed us three samples with the firmness ranging from 35 up to 55. We chose the 35 firmness, gave him a deposit and waited a couple weeks. When we picked the cushions up we didn't try in the store (didn't want to place on the floor), but when we got home, the firmness was so hard it was uncomfortable to sit on them. We called Soam and explained, and he tried to tell us we chose the wrong firmness. However when we explained our choice was the softest of the three, and if there were two more choices even harder, then we would then end up with a cushion that felt like sitting on cement. He insisted it was our mistake, but said he would replace the foam. We brought the cushion back and from the moment we got into the store, he was hostile towards us and rude, insisting still that it was our fault for a bad choice. However, now when he showed us the samples to choose from, he had different samples, two of which were brand new, one of which was now of a softer firmness of 28. So he had switched the samples on our second visit and tried to pretend that there was no difference. Also he made us pay another $50 for the material even though the mistake was obviously his. Not only did he insist we made the mistake but he then switched the samples to cover up the fact he 1) gave us the wrong samples to try and 2) installed a firmer foam than what we chose. Also, the samples we tried in the store the first visit were dated and worn which was another issue. These had been sitting in the store for some time, and were not the same quality as you would get with new foam. After Soam replaced the incorrect foam the second time, we then tried the replacement foam in the store (I brought a plastic bag this time) and it was clear this was the foam we had ordered. However after we told him he had installed the wrong foam he was from that point on dismissive and rude, and even insulting to both of us. We felt like he was being devious and misleading in trying to avoid blame. We wanted to give our business to a local, independent store, but in the end it was more stress and difficulty than we ever wanted. It was a shock to both of us how he handled our follow-up visits to get the mistake corrected. We cannot of course recommend him to anyone, given our experience.
