Ravinia told me I needed to replace a part on my furnace. Because the cost would have been thousands of dollars, I had 2 other HVAC companies look at the system, and both companies said the part did not need replacement. One company pointed out that the manufacturer had extended the warranty on the part, and mine was therefore under warranty, and the manufacturer would supply a new part and credit the labor. When I asked Ravinia about this, they conceded that the part was under warranty. They said their estimate was the cost for the additional labor charge the manufacturer didn't cover. In other words, Ravinia would have gotten a free part plus labor costs directly from the manufacturer, not tell me that, and then charge me thousands of dollars.
