I've used Hero for about 14 years to service my boiler/heating system. They installed a new boiler for me in 2010 (before they changed their name to Hero) and I've had no complaints since. I get it checked yearly and they're very thorough and professional, and very friendly, even with my dog.

We got an estimate to fix a dripping faucet and a running toilet. The high end estimate was $9000 and required replacing half the bathroom, while the "band aid" estimate was $2000 and still required replacing a not-old toilet. Just the name (band aid) implies that the customer is a cheapskate for considering it. The estimator said about the toilet, "It could be one of three things, and replacing them one at a time will add up, so I'd just replace the toilet." It seemed like throwing away a 2-lb block of good cheddar just because there's a speck of mold on one corner. We didn't go with Hero. Our Handyman bought a $10 part for the toilet and fixed it in about 20 minutes. He also replaced corroded shut-off valves for the bathroom sink and installed a new faucet (that I bought). Total cost (parts & labor) was a small fraction of Hero's cheapest estimate.
