I have been working on getting seismic retrofit work done on my house. I have a split level house on a hill-side which required an engineer to come up with plans. I went through a list and everyone was booked up for months in advance. Design Everest responded and kept emailing me to the point of harassment to get me to commit to them. I talked with them on the phone and they needed initial down payment before doing anything. They sent a man out to measure and I never got a face to face talk with the engineer. As I talked with my contractor and he kept asking about them I put the two of them into direct contact. Their initial plan was far beyond what we were asking for as we were going with Earthquake Brace & Bolt (EBB) guidelines. From then on, anything we asked for was additional expense. They wouldn't even parse out the plan into Phase I & Phase II dividing out the EBB recommendations from their plans, this would be extra money. They do not do inspections with the City permit inspector, we had to hire someone else.
Their website is strictly bait and switch business model. I cannot understand how they continue in business when they were so money hungry with me. No advice or help in meeting my needs. After the initial set of plans everything else was .. "money first" then they would work on it.
