Safelite is the official auto glass replacement provider for USAA who gave me an abysmal and challenging experience to obtain an estimate for my broken windshield. One of the things I learned from Safelite corporate, that USAA avoided providing is that a customer can request an OEM instead of an aftermarket one under USAA coverage provided the customer pays the full amount of the OEM windshield which I was willing to do given it was a high-tech windshield. In this case event though the OEM windshield was $17 more expensive than the aftermarket but USAA would pay only for installation and calibration. When I reached the receptionist at my appointment time at this location, she acted like she was either having a really bad day or despised her job. Communication with her was challenging. She first asked for payment that was hundreds of dollars more than the estimate received from Safelite corporate. When I challenged it and threatened to contact the Dept of Insurance, without a word she rechecked the computer and asked for an amount, without any explanation or apology for an amount near the estimate. When I asked why she muttered that USAA offered it at a better price. Given her attitude I asked for the manager which was ignored. I paid and was told a technician would be out shortly, which happened 20 minutes later. The technician told me the job would take about 2.5 hours or less and would keep me informed as to the progress and when calibration was started. That never happened. I was also told that it was policy that they would not reinstall FasTrak or dashcams that were attached with adhesive which I brought along in case they did not have it. The excuse was that they may not put them back where I wanted them despite the fact, I wanted them back in the same place. 4 hours later the call was ready without any progress updates and wires hanging down inside the car from the top of the windshield, leaving me in a hot car. in the sun with a migraine to figure out what to do with the wires hanging down into the middle of the windshield. I had to go back and ask them to reinstall the molding on the inner right side of the windshield as it was not installed correctly; adhesive was left on the driver side of the car between the car door windows for me to clean off; and chunks of adhesive were left on the left edge of the new windshield on the driver's side. All of this is true and the basis for my negative review.
