We spoke to 3 different companies before choosing BMC Clower. Overall, we had a satisfactory/good experience. 1. Estimate/Price - no significant difference for equivalent products compared to the other quotes. The estimator who came (Glenn) spent the most time answering all questions and making sure he knew what our expectations were. He was readily accessible for follow up questions. The only thing I was unhappy about was that he told me the new heat pump would only be slightly larger than our existing AC compressor by the kitchen window, but the reality was that the heat pump was significantly larger and therefore much more obtrusive. He came back when the work was ongoing, saw the HP and apologized for that. This leads me to the next point... 2. Work- A crew of two came to the house, started on time, and stayed for a long day. They were very courteous and friendly. When I saw how big the heat pump was, it was clear that the siting needed changing. They immediately called the office, talked to Glenn, and made a plan to relocate the HP. They were able to hook up the backup gas furnace so that we still had heat (early April). The office sent a change order immediately and I had to call my electrician for this snag. 3. Hook-up: After the electrician did his thing 5 days later, Brian returned to hook up the HP. However, there was a problem in that the firmware for the just released unit had not been updated. This required another visit with an updated thermostat. All in all, it took about 2 weeks for the unit to be up and working. Not a problem since it was early spring and there was no need for AC. The office is very responsive. Any time I called there was someone who answered and could help. I had to call them on a Sunday about a question regarding the furnace and it was handled well. I do not entirely fault the company for the need for a change order - that was my decision (although I wish I had known how big the HP would be...could have lined up the electrical work earlier and things would have gone smoother).

We used BMC/Clower to replace the entire A/C system in our house we selected them after getting estimates from them, our existing A/C contractor and one other. BMC offered advice on various systems, including a heat pump. Given that we recently replaced our central boiler (which serves radiators) with a highly efficient system, a heat pump did not make sense. BMC offered the best system with a smart thermostat. They allowed us to clean up the exposed insulation in our closet where the air handler goes by giving us several days between removal and then installation of the new equipment. It all worked out well.
