On a referral from Eastern Bank's Hingham branch, where we are customer, I came into this branch to start a home equity loan application. The manager and assistant managers were not there, a very courteous bank teller assistant copied the required documents for starting the loan process and asked me come back the next day when I could meet with one of the managers who get the process going. I came in the next day, and met with Indira Chandra, AVP. Instead of starting the loan process, she tried to sell me an IRA or roll over my IRA and tried to have make an appointment with one of their financial planners. I said no, and asked to move onto the HELOC application. She took my information and I provided her a few more document she needed. She gave me her card, and said they would be touch. A day or two later, we submitted our W2 forms to via email to her address and asked if there anything more they needed from us. Since that day I walked into that branch, I have not heard from her or the bank; literally, no communication whatsoever; about 12 days ago, I sent Indira another email asking for status on the loan, if there was anything she needed from us, and to let her know that we needed to have funds in place in about 3 weeks. They have not communicated with us at all - nothing. Ended up going with Citizens bank who gave a favorable rate and were very responsive and efficient.
