We are longtime clients of B&B Air Conditioning (Gaithersburg) and have a platinum contract that covers all labor costs. Their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and prompt. Their service work is always excellent.

I signed up for a special coupon for a checkup service for $75/unit. It turns out the special service was me paying for an estimate of things to do. The technician said I should clean the coils and he could do that for about $400 per unit. There was a labor charge, a parts charge, and a third charge he couldn't explain. When I didn't understand what he would be charging he was frustrated and let me know that he would explain it to me one more time. He still couldn't explain it, I think he was trying to intimidate me with his technical knowledge but it came off as a lot of double talk. I told him I thought the quote was high and would get other estimates and he insured me that everyone charged the same. I called around and I got quotes for $200/unit or less. I spoke to one gentleman who said he wasn't available but that I could easily buy the coil cleaner online and watch a youtube on how to do it. He asked who gave the high quote and laughed and said everyone says B&B stands for Beltway Bandit. I took his advice and bought the cleaner for $40 and it worked great.
