Total Comfort installed my current furnace, which now has a cracked heat exchanger. There is a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger, but apparently on the part, not the labor to fix (labor is included for first 10 years only). The service tech called my wife and started arguing that the part was not covered and because they were last here four years ago, the warranty would probably not be honored. When I arrived home, the technician was equally nasty to me and seemed only to want to sell me a new furnace. He was pretentious, unfriendly, and when I refused a new furnace said "I'm out of here and walked out the door." I called a manager and they said they would replace the heat exchanger for $2800. They called a bit later and offered to do it for $2500 because they cared about my business. I called other contractors recommended by Checkbook and I am able to get the heat exchanger replaced within 24 hours for $1000 (all inclusive), rather than the "deal" offered to me by Total Comfort for $2500. Keep in mind, the large companies don't want to repair you appliance, they want to replace it. Be sure to get multiple bids.
