My wife was also on the sixth floor for rehabilitation. I was with her about 15 hours a day and saw for myself what it was like. The day shift staff was quite good and responsive but I did most of the caring for my wife. They may have done more if I wasn't there. The rehabilitation staff was very good. On the third evening we were there, there was only one nurse and one assistant on the floor. I was told the others reported off sick and they were not replaced. On the fourth day I finally managed to talk to the assistant director of the facility and at the conclusion of the discussion I told him that my wife was to be discharged the next day. Since I have health care power of attorney for my wife that is what happened. I could give her much better care at home than what she was receiving at Devon Manor. I had visiting Physical therapy at home which wasn't as good as the in-patient rehab but my wife was much happier.
