Anchor Insulation Systems provides two environmentally-friendly insulation solutions: Airkrete and Bio-Based Foam. We used them for both. We had them conduct two installations. The first they had problems. I think part of it was the complexity of the job and part of it was the inexperience with the product (we were one of the early Airkrete installations). But they did return to fix the problems.

The second time they visited, the still had a couple of problems, again, probably mainly due to the complexity of the job. We found a couple of places where the Airkrete had been blocked by old insulation or blocking in the walls. Despite this, Eric was eager to fill the gaps and even helped me find the deficiencies. He took extra time to make sure the job was done right, the first time.

In addition to the Airkrete installation, Anchor also blew in Biobased 501 foam in other parts of the house.

I could only recommend Airkrete for installation in existing walls with sheathing unless the installation method were altered. Airkrete just doesn’t seem appropriate for installation in open wall cavities, no matter what Airkrete’s website says. And when you do install it, make sure the cavities are filled tight with the product, especially at the top. Drill your own holes and verify if you need.

I would recommend Anchor for standing behind their work. This criteria alone sets them apart from so many other companies out there. But I would also recommend that you let your expectations be very clear up front and make time to verify they did the work as you expect.
