Poor communication with our family and among their staff. Many nurses over four-month period, no continuity of care. Most important--inadequate management of symptoms. My letter of complaint has not even been acknowledged nearly two months later. My impression is they are seriously understaffed.

I ended up working with Veterans Affairs to remove Capital Hospice due to the atrocious behavior of the nurses and the quality of my life and my dying Mother’s life improved.

During a stressful time they would yell at family members who were trying to follow the wishes of their dying relative. I found them not helpful at all and they added stress to an already stressful situation and it appeared they took pleasure out of it.

One of the aids was good but I would NEVER recommend this hospice due to the poor behavior of the nurses. Other family members felt the same way and said it felt like the employee she spoke with had a chip on her shoulder.

When I hired someone from outside to help since Hospice was pretty much worthless they seemed upset with me and shocked I would do use someone else to fill in what they were unable to accomplish.

They got the doctor to order drugs that caused massive issues, allergic reactions, with my dying family member so I never picked up the drug.

When I asked for a mild pain reliever they refused to give it and demanded I pick up what they ordered which would have killed her and we would have missed out on the final few wonderful days together.

When I would call for help with things they never followed through except with supplies. My final words would be RUN away from Capital Hospice. I’ve checked with other friends who said their experience with the nurses was very similar but they praised the other staff members.

The most helpful person was the social worker.

I would NEVER use Capital Hospice again.
