I have used Tom Muse for HVAC services for years and was always satisfied as to service, honesty, reliability, cost, and efficiency. Since Tom Muse is no longer a family firm and is under new management, all that has changed. I was convinced by a Tom Muse service technician during my fall furnace service inspection in October 2024 to purchase a new furnace because my furnace allegedly had a gas leak and that my furnace was so old that it was “cost effective” to do so. Two workmen delivered the new Carrier furnace, and I assumed that it would take half a day to install. However, in less than two hours, they were out the door. I questioned them on the speed of installation, and they merely stated that they were “expert installers.” The furnace appeared to function efficiently except the humidifier did not work. Since I was not sensitive to dry air, I decided to wait until my next servicing to have the humidifier replaced. In early May, I turned my air conditioner on, and the condensate ran out the back of my HVAC unit and puddled on the floor. The technician that I called (from another firm other than Tom Muse) determined that the cause of this problem and the malfunctioning of the humidifier were caused by improper and uneven mounting of the furnace by Tom Muse’s “expert installers.” The only solution appears to have the furnace removed and re-installed.

Have been using Tom Muse for many years. The technicians have always been responsive although the technician we have dealt with over the years left about a little over a year ago. I get both the AC and Heating system checked yearly. I understand that Tom Muse changed ownership although I do not know that for sure. However, when the technician came this year for our AC check he informed us that the company has a new policy and if you need a re-charge, the price of the a410 refrigerant had been changed so that even if you needed 1 pound, the price was nearly triple the old price or approximately $700. The company failed to provide that detail before they came or I would have checked with other companies. That was just bad communication on their part. So, since the new management, they may offer the same quality but for certain services, their price no longer gets a check in my book. I will have to look elsewhere for service based on price.

Have used Tom Muse for years. Just completed a replacement of our hot water heater, followed by our full HVAC system. Tom Muse gave us detailed estimates, worked with us on scheduling, arrived as promised and did the work correctly on the first go-round. Cleaned up a larger area than they really needed to. Will continue to use.
