Dealing with their admin staff was a nightmare. They were having issues with their phone system, and many calls were either disconnected or went to dead mailboxes. Couldn't get scheduled despite a referral from one of their own doctors. Finally had to just walk in and demand to be scheduled. Their attitude was that I should have just known about their phone system issues and how to work around them.

The appointment time at OrthoVirginia PT is split between the PT and a tech. The therapists are juggling way too many patients to really focus on individual care and they tend to be rushed, and distracted by the chit-chat between other staff members. The techs are friendly but have minimal training and just take you through exercises that could be done at home. It seems to be a hassle to get ice or heat and you feel like they want to rush you out and maximize patient volume. I still have problems with the joint that was treated, so they were not very effective. The facility is also small and claustrophobic, so there is no privacy. The next time that I needed a PT, I was told there was a one month wait for a new patient evaluation at OrthoVirginia PT. I decided to try out Inova PT which I had noticed on the exact same corridor in the same building. It turned out to be a lucky decision. I was seen within a few days. The entire appointment time was spent with the therapist and they were much more helpful and patient-oriented, offering ice or heat at the end of the more hands-on treatment. The facility is much more spacious and better-equipped. My treatment this time was successful so my advice would be to go to Inova PT instead!

you need to book in advance of surgery as most therapists are booked up @ 2-4 weeks in advance. Located within Virginia Hospital Center and parking is awful--lots often full and require repetitive circling for a space--even handicapped spaces are usually full--so allow at least 15 minutes to park. Other than that, very pleased with therapist (Lauren).and facility, and it is part of OrthoVirginia network of excellent orthopedic surgeons (David Romness is likely the best in a 50 mile radius in terms of skill, compassion, and outcomes and every single nurse, anesthesiologist, etc at the hospital praise him behind his back as the best possible choice) so coordination of care is easy. In-network for most insurance. excellent overall care.
