A Formal Affair almost ruined my wedding, and has caused unnecessary stress and upset. I thought I had found the perfect dress. I purchased my wedding dress, based upon the assurances from the Manager, that the alterations necessary, could be performed, no problem. Though I voiced repeatedly my skepticism about what was needed, as I have sewn in the past. I was promised that they had done it before, and would be alright. The dress arrived; I went for first fitting; and sure enough the alterations would be far more extensive, and all my concerns initially voiced, came true, and I had buy addt'l fabric, to match the dress. Needless to say I was angry. We then discussed and sketched the new plan for alterations; I left the fabric with them, and paid them an additional $ for alterations. Two days later, I receive a phone call from the owner that because I was being difficult, they would not do the alterations, wanted to send me the dress, and I was to go somewhere else. They claim that I bought a non-refundable dress (true), but only based upon promises that they made. They sent the dress to me Unauthorized, and I refused shipment based upon advice from Discover card, as we had it in dispute by then. Now they are claiming I abandoned the dress. The course of events that they reported to Discover is total fabrications, and this does not reflect a reputable business. They have the dress, charged my credit card again, and I have nothing. Discover card supervisor is doing what he can to help. I don't know how to get my money or the dress back now, and all because THEY broke their promises and (as far as I'm concerned) the contract of No Returns. If they didn't want to do business with me, why not just give me my money back, and let me go on my way? I have since purchased another wedding dress at another wonderful shop (Curvy Girl). They are the epitome of "bait and switch." - SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE.
