I used to be a fan of Hayes Heating, but this year’s experience has been a long, painful and expensive mess. What started with a routine system checkup (at well over double the cost of the last one sixteen months prior), led to protracted refrigerant leakage testing — with no clearly identified leak — even after the system was disassembled without my permission and part of it taken to the shop to be tested separately. As of just today, we are back in operation (almost exactly two months from the initial checkup call). I still don’t know what it’s going to cost me as so many people have touched it (at least four) that the knowledgeable and pleasant fellow who finally put things back together and got it running again wouldn’t even hazard an attempt at a bill. I will be looking for someone else who services Coleman heat pumps in the area and will be looking at equipment NOT made by the Johnson Controls Unitary Products Group if/when this system needs to be replaced.
