They say that they have "no surprises" in their cost, but after the plumber started working on my toilet, he said that another part also needed replacement, even though the estimating plumber had seen that part during his earlier visit and hadn't included that in the original estimate. He said it would cost $600 extra to replace that other part and that it would take 2 hours more. I agreed to $400 extra, but then it only took 20 minutes to replace the second part, which didn't warrant $400 extra. He was sloppy in his work, such as dragging my toilet across the floor with water sloshing out from it. I had assumed there would be two men for the original estimate, since it was a heavy toilet, and that's why I had agreed to the original estimate, but only one came and he couldn't handle it well. In fact, I even wonder if he damaged the wax ring that he had just replaced when he dropped the toilet in the wrong location on top of it after he was done. I spent at least an hour in prep beforehand to protect my floors with cardboard and a tarp, or else it would have damaged them. I spent about an hour cleaning up the mess myself after he left.
