We may have hit them on a bad day, but the individual who helped us, although pleasant, just didn't seem to be sufficiently engaged with our needs. We've had better experiences elsewhere.

I was a patient at the downtown office for eye assoc. nw for 10 0r 12 years. Dr. Neupert was my eye doctor and I was always impressed that he was unhurried and very careful when he examined and tested my eyes to determine the proper prescription. He retired and I transfered my business to the Ballard branch of the same group this year. When they checked my eyes the tests were performed by a young nurse, followed by a quick check and chat with Dr. Carroll who said I had cataracts and astigmatism and needed an operation in one eye. I questioned correcting astigmatism in one eye an not the other, but was advised the other eye was only slightly bad regarding astigmatism and it would adapt OK. Correcting astigmatism was another $2500 over the basic cataract surgery. I accepted the advice and had the surgery. The result was that my depth perception was seriously degraded. I was told to wait a month and they would check again. A different eyeglass prescription improved sight somewhat, but my vision is less than what I had before surgery. My sense is that this branch of eye asssoc. NW at Ballard is organized to minimize the time the doctor spends with the patient....staff members do most of the eye measurements and the Dr. accepts their numbers and writes the prescription. The reception staff is perfectly happy to have you wait while they play with computers. I had several wait times of 30 to 60 minutes after my scheduled appointment times.
