It's not often that I respond or post to these sites but I'm compelled to in this case because our experience with Liz Levin Interiors has been completely opposite of what's been described by the Falls Church resident.

I find the negative review completely off the mark, and am confused by the feedback.

Working with an interior designer is a collaboration. You're enlisting the help of someone who is professionally trained and experienced in design to help realize your aspirations for your living and/or working space. And the very first step when working with Liz is establishing needs and budget. It's not in the clients' interest, or Liz's, to work outside those parameters. So how things could have gone so far off the rails seems mysterious.

Our experience with LLI has been wonderful. We've found her, and all those on her staff, to be consummate professionals. We've done two projects with Liz and her team and have been delighted with the results. She is creative, funny, and most of all very engaged with her clients, doing in-person meetings, speaking by phone and corresponding with email. She is reasonable and fair minded. In fact, for one of our projects she worked above and beyond our agreed upon hours and budget, using her own time to complete our project to both of our liking.

We've recommended her services to many other friends and neighbors, several of whom have used her services and been equally pleased. We'll continue to recommend her without reservation to others in the future!

I chose Liz Levin based on the numerous Washington Post articles about her and her beautiful website. I should have known from the start that it would not work out. For one, don't even try to speak to her on the phone. Even after we paid our $3000 retainer, everything was by email. Apparently Liz did not have time to work on such a small job as ours, so she sent her assistant who only had 3 years of experience, yet billed at $125 an hour. I had said from the start that I wanted only store bought items, nothing custom, yet all I was shown was custom goods. The estimate for 4 pillows was $1100 and the estimate for 2 window treatments (4 panels in all) was $9000. The worst part was that of the 24 hours of design work that my $3000 retainer covered, at least 10 were spent on admin tasks such as refining estimates. I finally fired them when I was told that the $1000 fee for rehupolstering 8 chairs did not include the pick up and drop off. This firm was horrible to work with and I will never be able to look at the gigantic chandelier they recommended for our den (non-refundable) without being angry. Not recommended!!
