I interviewed several power wash companies to wash my stucco house and decks and most were far too blasé about it. Asked about chemicals they would use, they said none or some detergent. Michael Constantine, the owner of Mid Atlantic, was much more detailed, speaking of needing three washings: one with some detergent to remove twenty years of grime, one with bleach to remove the mold and one with other chemicals to remove the rust and whatever else was still there. He agreed to patch some holes and was able to match the paint over the repairs to the unpainted stucco. The house now looks great. Pictures at http://tinyurl.com/m8rxc56 .
The garage needed more work, including replacing wood around the door and pointing and fixing cracks in the underlining walls. It had been painted, so cleaning was only the first step with painting being required. Mid Atlantic does remodeling in Maryland (and is licensed and bonded there) so Michael brought in a carpenter and also did the masonry work. Fortunately, no license is needed in DC for washing or painting. Pictures at http://tinyurl.com/m8rxc56 .
Mr. Constantine was present for all of the work. His helpers were all long time employees and careful about cleaning up. His price was a little higher than some of the others, but covered more work and was fair.
