So many people I know have horror stories about contractors that we did not shop for price when we needed to replace our shower. Our concern was with the quality of the work, so we relied heavily on the ratings and comments here, which seemed consistent with John's behavior when he gave us the estimate. As it turns out, all the positive comments we read on this site were borne out by our experience and we couldn't be happier.

Everything about the experience was positive. John was here most days, and Matthew was here every day. You couldn't ask for nicer, more pleasant (and hard working) people. When John gave us the estimate, he warned us that there might be some hidden damage that could increase the cost. There wasn't--we ended up paying what he had estimated. He made some design suggestions -- including using a larger tile size inside the shower than in the rest of the bathroom and adding a wall in which to build a nook -- that turned out to be right on the money. We're happy we took his advice. At the end of each day, they left everything tidy and the bathroom as usable as possible. Communication was good -- we were continually advised as to the status of the work. John had committed to a specific start date -- a Monday -- and to a finish date -- Friday of the following week. As the work progressed, the finish date became earlier and earlier, and the work ended up being completed 4 days ahead of schedule. Of course, in the end, it's the quality of the work that matters most. The new shower is beautiful, exactly what we had hoped for. No regrets here.

We found Realty Resurrections and its owner, John Babyak, through Consumer Checkbook last fall. Based on the recommendations here, his detailed estimating process, his experience, and his willingness to answer all of our many questions in as much depth as required, we decided to hire them to remodel one of our upstairs bathrooms, a jack-and-jill. We selected and ordered materials in late November, and work began in mid-January.

Fast-forward to late May, when John and his apprentice Matthew finished remodeling the fourth of four full bathrooms in our home -- two jack-and-jill bathrooms, the master bathroom, and a full bathroom in our basement. We are extremely happy with the finished results, which are simply outstanding.

John has been in this business for three decades and has an encyclopedic knowledge of techniques and materials. He has seen just about everything, which means he can anticipate potential problems, and dispatch them with ease when they arise. He is licensed and insured, and works with a master electrician and master plumber who are as well. He has longstanding relationships with local plumbing and tile suppliers that sell high-quality building materials - not the cheap stuff you find in big box stores. When we had a problem with a defective (and expensive) part, John went to bat for us immediately and got the part replaced for free.

John and Matthew are meticulous in their work, performing a thorough clean-up every day, and leaving the house cleaner that when they started. John believes in the importance of communication, and made it a point to touch base every day of the job, ensuring that we were fully informed every step of the way.

They take great pride in their work, and are not happy unless you are 100% pleased. Sometimes, even that's not good enough. While working on the second bathroom, John decided he wasn't happy with the way the ceiling paint looked in the first bathroom, so he re-painted it at his cost. Keep in mind that we were already 100% satisfied with that first bathroom, but he saw something that he thought could be better, and so he fixed it.

We have a powder room on our first floor that we plan to remodel later this year. You can be absolutely sure that John and Matthew will be the ones to do this work.

Realty Resurrections has our highest recommendation.

After renovating our master bath and bedroom a few years ago and having a poor experience with our contractor we were a little gun-shy about renovating our guest bathroom. But, reading Consumer Checkbook, we found Realty Resurrections, Ltd had a stellar track record. I called John Babyak, he came over to make an estimate and, based on both the CC recommendations and the thoroughness of his estimating system and contract elements, we signed up. I expected excellence and we got excellence! John and his associate Matthew know what they are doing, the order in which it is to be done and how to avoid problems later on done the line. We had 1m x 1/3m porcelain tiles to put on the walls. This large size required John to make our non-plumb walls plumb which he did. With his experience in all matters bathroom, every step had a solution. Working with John and Matthew was a very good experience in which each of them was willing to explain what they were doing and why. The bathroom is finished today except for two materials problems that came from the plumbing supplier whom we had used directly. Lesson learned: use John's advice in the selection process for both supplier and model choices. John and Matthew both have healthy senses of humor that helps the work move along. Everything was meticulously neat everyday when they left. A totally positive experience. Thanks to Consumer Checkbook and previous clients of John's for their ratings that aided in our choice.
