I went to Brook Taylor after spending months trying to furnish a dining room and living room on my own. They were a godsend. I had called a few other designers as part of my research/interview process, but a couple didn't call back with a prelim telephone consult despite promising to - I suppose my 5 figure budget was too low, even though I had indicated there was flexibility within it, but I wish they had told me from the get-go that that was outside their typical range. Point being, BTI was not pretentious despite having very lovely products/options. They provide fantastic ideas for reasonable consultation fees per room: For that set fee, they will provide 2-3 options for each furniture piece you're interested in (any additional consulting is on an hourly rate). I liked their overall style, but their choices didn't always fit the feel I wanted (I wavered a bit), and they were great about rolling with my amended decisions. I worked with both Jordan and Ellen (the latter has her own window treatment shop that I plan on using when my wall treatments are set) and they carry/source great lines. There was never a hard sell on the priciest items, and they were accommodating to my schedule on home visits (they came when we viewed rugs in my house). I highly recommend them. Also, do go in with photos or Houzz ideabooks to make it easier for all parties involved!
