We called Fortress Foundation Solutions as they were the closest business that worked with Basement Systems equipment/solutions, which a previous owner had installed. The former owner had installed a "water guard" perimeter drainage system, three sump pumps, and two large dehumidifiers. We called to request a quote on a moisture barrier as our home inspector had recommended one. The person I spoke to at Fortress Solutions not only offered to have someone come out to give us a quote, but also have them check all of the sump pumps and dehumidifiers. From this point forward, everything went downhill. The technician that came out immediately got to work on inspecting the equipment, but was completely unaware that he was supposed to be providing a quote for the moisture barrier - the main reason I called in the first place - and had to have another person talk him through it on the phone. When I received my quote, I followed up with some questions and initially got a quick response, but then the communication completely stopped. I called them after two weeks and finally got a response, and then signed the proposal. I had asked them if they would be able to examine our crawlspace and make repairs to the plastic barrier if needed since a groundhog had gained access before we moved in, and I was assured that they would bring along extra material, do an inspection, and make needed repairs on the same day. It then took almost two weeks and another phone call just to schedule an installation date. When installation day finally came, the crew installed the moisture barrier as requested, but had no clue that they were supposed to be checking the crawlspace and were not equipped to fix anything. They took pictures and told me that they would follow up with a quote, but failed to do so. After two weeks, I spoke with someone on the phone and informed them that I was still waiting on a quote, and they assured me that they would look into it and get back to me. It's now been almost a month, and it's clear that they won't be following up. Overall they seem to do decent work, but I'm convinced that they must not have any kind of internal communication and it results in them repeatedly making promises that they don't keep. I ended up having to act as a project manager because no one on their end was capable of doing it. I'll be using a different company going forward and have no desire to work with them again.

Formerly Mission Systems in Frederick, these guys know what they are doing. I had a peculiar issue with a sump system and they diagnosed it correctly the first time out. A different firm that had done a previous sump "upgrade" was deficient. The firm employs fire fighters who know their structural stuff and the person who came out to survey carefully explained what happened and what needed to be done. The installers were on time, clean, courteous, and also explained what they had done and how to maintain things. A few weeks later, I received a follow-up satisfaction call. Top notch work.
