Guy (Tom) was a complete joke. Showed up 1 hour early for the apt, then volunteered to leave & come back at the correct time. Then Came back 45 min late for that. Spent over 3 hours and STILL didn't finish the inspection for the pepco rebate program. He had forgotten some tools and had to come back a 2nd time to finish it up. That was October.

Then he took 6 weeks to get back to me w/ the report, and a further 6 weeks to work up an estimate for the work to be done. He only did it at that point (last week of December) b/c he was in a hurry to get it in before the end of the year.He said something about getting another project in before the end of the year to stay eligible w/ Pepco to participate in their rebate program. But I was headed out of town for x-mas.

The estimate was also grossly inflated. Each line item was inflated, but there were also unnecessary line items. By his own admission a timer switch was uneccessary, but required by the program . He gave me a website to look up something else that he argued WAS necessary, to prove that it was. That website listed the cost of that line item as $275, when his line item listed it as $400 - as the POST pepco rebate price. So supposedly at a 50% discount!!

Then when I pushed back on prices, and scheduling to leaving town for x-mas, he w/drew the bid. Which was actually a huge favor. The next company I called were willing to use his report so I didn't have to pay for a 2nd energy audit. But the numbers were so far off that they had to re-run a few of the tests. They suggested that Helios was incompetent rather than trying to rip me off, but after the contract fiasco I'm not so sure.
