I have been going here for years. Admittedly I have not compared other vet services in our area but Columbia Pike services seem very expensive. It is likely just our metro area. I have learned to always ask for, or bring a copy of a price check on medications. I have learned to always ask for the senior discount. I generally ask for Dr. Waite and rated overall care and advice based on my experience with her. I do not like the new answering service for making an appointment. You are always placed on hold for the next available receptionist, and even if you are first in line, it can take 10-15 minutes. When it rings through it inevitably kicks you back on hold. Very frustrating. When I go in, there are always at least 4 receptionists waiting on customers, and rarely the same people from visit to visit. The wait time for your appointment is often at least 15-20 minutes but very recently seems improved, but never on time no matter when you go in. It is very difficult to talk to a vet by phone if you have a question. They advise you to send an email if you want a faster response. I have done that only to find that the vet will be out of town for a number of days and not checking email.

I had a HORRIBLE experience at this place and would NEVER return. First I needed to tell them about triage -- my cat was BLEEDING -- so that they would take my cat in right away. Then they made me wait a full hour before telling me anything about him, which was outrageous. Only after I complained, which mostly seemed to result in things slowing down even more, did someone come out and tell me that he had bitten a vet tech who was trimming the cat's nail. I warned them in advance that this might happen, but apparently no one there has heard of having TWO vet techs in the same room to restrain a cat or wrapping a cat in a blanket or putting a mask/muzzle on a cat (they gave me nothing but excuses later why those things couldn't be done). Then I was told that the police had been called and that I would have to wait even longer till the police arrived. I asked for my bill to speed things up, but they refused to provide it. When the officer arrived, he was so good at his job -- unlike the people at this facility -- that he calmed me down. And despite the fact that my cat has not set foot outside in the THREE YEARS that I have had him, the law required that he be quarantined, which meant not change for him: he would have to stay indoors at my place where he always stays while I observed him for 10 days. He had NO signs of rabies, and it is IDIOTIC that a strictly indoor cat like him who has ZERO chance in a high-rise apartment building of encountering a rabid animal like a racoon would be suspected of having rabies merely because he bite a stupid vet tech who ignored my advice. Among other faults, this facility must have BAD hiring practices.

I took my dog there on a Saturday afternoon when my regular vet's office was closed. The place was very busy and I had to wait a long time. They whisked the dog away to a private room and left me sitting in the lobby. The vet eventually came out and talked to me for about 15 seconds while I was standing in the check-out line. She neglected to tell me some important things about what she had done. They encourage people to e-mail the vets, so after I got home I e-mailed her with a question and got a very snotty response. I am never going back there. Although the 24-hour schedule looks good on paper, this group is subpar and there are other practices that now have evening and weekend hours.
