Review of Columbia Pike Animal Hospital Annandale Location I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so that others are aware. On June 2, 2025, I brought in an injured stray cat who was bleeding from his back legs. I paid the exam fee and trusted the staff and Dr. Chad Nishi to provide the right care. I was told the injuries were not life-threatening, that he only needed wound care and stitches, and that with antibiotics and pain medication he would recover. I was quoted nearly $1,000 for treatment, which I agreed to because I just wanted the cat to be safe. Unfortunately, the cat’s condition did not improve. Over the next several days, he lost bladder and bowel control, and when I called, I was told this was “normal” and to just give it time. On June 8th, I rushed him back to the hospital due to severe bleeding. At that point, another doctor finally diagnosed him with a serious spinal injury, broken tail, and irreversible nerve damage. I was told the most humane option was euthanasia. This was devastating to hear, especially after being reassured multiple times that his injuries were not severe. The misdiagnosis led to unnecessary suffering for the cat and heartbreak for me. I strongly feel the initial exam and assessment were negligent and not thorough. If I had been given an accurate diagnosis from the start, I would never have allowed him to go through a week of pain. Instead, I left feeling misled, emotionally drained, and financially burdened. I hope sharing this experience helps other pet owners make informed decisions.

With a very large staff of veterinarians and 24/7 hours, there's always a vet available for urgent care, though sometimes there's a wait. Getting an appointment with a particular vet can take longer. I've been happy with almost all of the vets who've seen my dog. Recently, they stopped charging extra for urgent care, which is great. They give discounts for both senior citizens and senior dogs, though costs still tend to be high.
