New vet for our new rescue kittens - very pleased with friendly staff, doctor competence, convenient location, and especially breadth of services offered at a single location.

Since Suburban was sold by original owner Dr. Gary Shrader several years ago to VCA, quality of care has plummeted and costs are exorbitant. Had gone there for 30 years. Had sick dog. They wanted us to go to emergency vet 10 miles away at rush hour. No one in their waiting room. Have 8 doctors. Said all were busy doing paperwork while I dog had a seizure in the waiting room. After 40 minutes saw us, knew what problem was but didn’t have the medicine. Sent us to CVS after charging us $300 plus $10 to write the prescription for medicine they did not carry. Also, friend’s cat died while being boarded there. Could not give reason. Cat young and not ill. And then charged my friend for the entire 3-week boarding time when the cat died after the first week. How can they justify charging for boarding for a dead cat? Prices also outrageous. $800 for a dental that others charge $335 for. All of the vets who had worked fo orignalmowner now gone. It’s a corporation (Veterinary Corporation of America or VCA) that cares only about money and not the animals. Horrible, horrible place.

I wish I had found Suburban years ago when I first got pets. They have the right mixture of professionalism and friendliness and clearly their entire staff cares about the animals. I've taken my cats there now for their regular checkups, for care for a medical condition, and for grooming, and each time I've felt like I've been given excellent service.
