ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!! We went with what we thought was a highly rated company for their experience since it was our first remodeling venture. We felt we were overpaying ($120,000) but we wanted a bathroom renovation and no hassles. We first became alarmed when we saw the shockingly sloppy first installation of the drywall. There were huge gaps in the corners large enough to put my fingers through and wall in water closet was bumpy/crooked. OTHER MAJOR ISSUES: shower door side panel not secured; Heating vent not connected to duct work; Sloping floor in watercloset and if we wanted it leveled, we'd have to have to pay an additional $50,000-$60,000 more to gut bathroom AGAIN to level; Forgot to put in sound dampening insulation and Started putting up drywall in shower without insulation; shower bench wasn't slanted; We had to have major repair to boiler after installation of Runtal heater; wrong size Runtal heater initially ordered. (We told Justin early in remodel process it was wrong size – he did not order correct size until end of remodel, resulting in delay & sloppy drywall and baseboard cutting and plastering); no overflow drain catchment/trough in borderless shower; greenboard was initially installed instead of cement board for use behind large ceramic tiles on walls of wet room. (Manufacturer of green board states greenboard is not approved for use in wet rooms behind large ceramic tiles.) Eventually the greenboard was removed and replaced with cement board; Did not clean up cement dust in basement that occurred when their plastic sheeting came loose. Huge health hazard mess in basement and there is still blue masking tape left on the basement ceiling; gap between floor under toilet and rafters below. We were told that bathroom above had leaky plumbing – but we could not have our own plumber come in to do any work because of the permits and we ended up paying an additional $3,000 to Case for their plumbers. Whenever an issue was brought up, our project manager, Justin, he would say that 'it was good enough' or become combative calling me 'rude' or 'childlike'. For Justin, the customer is always wrong. WE ADVISE ANYONE USING CASE DESIGN TO MONITOR QUALITY OF THE WORK. We lost all trust and dreaded the site of Case employees coming to the house. Onsite workers were friendly and hardworking, but we felt needed closer supervision by manager who cared more about coming around to collect scheduled payments than the construction. We felt he was just a ‘bagman’. I don’t feel good about reviewing Case Design, and am not a frequent public reviewer. I want people to think twice about allowing Case to do work in your home without close personal oversight. We felt sucked in because we had already paid a huge sum of money for early blueprints and realize afterwards, it would have been smarter to walk away.
