Was hesitant to try HD for carpet given mixed reviews on various sites, but liked the carpet choices, prices and install schedule. The two fellows sent by the install contractor HD uses (at least in this area) were polite, neat and careful. They installed quickly and cleaned up completely. Only a few months since install, but still happy with carpet choice and have not experienced and post-install problems.

We bought higher end carpet from Home Depot and got a reasonable price, but the installers were terrible--definitely low bid folks who did a poor job on several seams and couldn't get the staircase right despite repeated attempts to correct the installation. The installers were messy when removing the old carpet and padding, did not vacuum the exposed subfloor before installing the new carpet (although one installer did make a half-hearted attempt at sweeping with an old broom), didn’t tape the carpet padding seams until I complained, and didn’t use power carpet stretchers during the installation but relied upon ‘kick stretchers’ only. They botched the installation on one of the staircases and then tried to tell me that my townhouse was ‘crooked’ and that accounted for the poor installation. We’re *still* waiting to have several of these defects corrected. Never again Home Depot!
