Apollod replace our kitchen sink p trap and strapped the trap arm for additional support and charged a total of $820. Unlike Roto Rooter, who just replaced the p trap 2 years ago, making the problem recur, Apollo did a much better diagnosis, and clearly explained the root cause of our problem. Apollo wasn't cheap (and I didn't get a second quote because this was an emergency) but they did a very good job. I would use them again, but might consider finding a cheaper option.

My call was emergent, as water from the laundry washer was backing up into the bathtub and shower. The plumber who arrived evaluated the situation and gave me a price of $9200+ and said he couldn't start work without half down. Fortunately, I had an open HELOC loan account and I could give him a check. He gave no payment options. It took him all day, and he found a break in the line just as it exited the house, into which tree roots had grown into the line and finally totally clogged it. He replaced the pipe, and installed "U"cleanouts outside which had not been there. He kept me informed of his progress and findings. At the end, he told me the rest of the payment was required "on completion," and I complied, with some reluctance again from my HELOC account. He told me I would never have to worry again. No warranty was discussed other than that, and no maintenance agreements. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't been able to comply with the half down and final payments.

deceptive advertising...$83 to unplug drain then switch to service charge because of small print ono in radio ad.
