The primary reason I recommend Walmart as one place to grocery shop is that you can definitely find some lower regular prices there. They also have a few items that I can't find elsewhere locally. At least in my area (north Seattle to Snohomish), the big Walmarts with a wide variety of non-food items do have a good selection of non-perishable groceries and a pretty good selection of frozen items, but no produce or meat, and only one short aisle of cold cases that focus primarily on ready to consume items. I'm not even sure you can buy milk there. The smaller Walmart 'Neighborhood' stores focus on the items normally found in grocery stores, and there you can find non-perishable & frozen selections at least as good as those in the bigger Walmarts. I know at least the gluten-free selection is about 3 times as big in the north Lynnwood 'Neighborhood' store I use. There you'll also find an adequate produce department, although with few or no organic options, a pretty good dairy department, and I think there's a small meat department back in one corner, but I never use it. I have used the pick-up option in an attempt to verify that specific items I want are available in the quantity I want. I haven't spotted an instance of a grocery item being cheaper online than in the store (a despicable practice!), but I find instances constantly in the wider variety of items carried in the bigger stores. When I do, I always order online to get the lower online price either pick the order up or have it delivered if it's above the free delivery threshhold. That practice of online prices lower than in-store prices is also rampant at Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, many hardware-type stores, & likely others so beware and use pick-up or delivery to get around it when you can.

Order online with curbside pickup is the greatest thing to ever happen to grocery shopping. Very helpful, professional and friendly associates. So flexible pickup scheduling.

This store saves me $100 to $150 every time I shop! Some items are not on the shelf but that is also true of Safeway right now.
