Misrepresented training as audiologist vs. hearing instrument specialist. Staff became defensive and stated that training was identical for audiologist, that there was "just different alphabets behind the credentials" when the training is a technical 2 year degree for an instrument specialist vs. a master's or doctorate degree for an audiologist. Stated technology could no longer be programmed after two years. Stated there was no assistive technology that worked with product when in fact there is, but that the software is proprietary. Tried to sell a new product. When my mother went to an ENT and audiologist, was advised that her hearing loss had dramatically changed and should have been retested. We had requested this, but were put off. She sought help and adjustments multiple times. She was blamed for not describing problems adequately vs. having her hearing retested during the last two years. When I brought in test results from doctor and asked if they could reprogram my mom's hearing aids based upon current results, the staff was very defensive and told us it was time for us to move on. They have been very friendly, but I do not trust this provider or his assistant after these experiences. It seems to me after this experience, that technicians should have more limits on their licenses.
