I finally got tired of ADT's lousy customer service and (failing to check on CheckBook - my fault) took some online "ratings" (undoubtedly advertising ploy) of Guardian. These fellows quoted me $40/mo. on the phone. Then sent out 2 man team to try to talk me up to $49 originally. I finally got them down to $40.99 (after about an hour of a hot-box sales pitch). They assured, after I made a point of it, that would include all charges and taxes and would be good for 5 years. They then presented me a "contract" on a tablet that had a box that scrolled 3 lines at a time, making it impossible to fully evaluate. I signed that, making it clear I was holding them to the deal they had made. The first install date (3 days later) was pushed out a week (I, later learned that was because of MD law that gives a 7-day cooling off period for someone my age). The installer did a decent job, but spent all afternoon changing a card in the existing controller box. They used all my old equipment. Then I got the bill for $54. It had several additional charges and taxes, including $2 for a "paper statement" that they wanted to charge because I refused to let them debit my bank account. When I called to insist they honor their agreement of $40.99 I spent several hours with a first-line female who was very unhelpful, then a male "supervisor" who was polite, but unhelpful at first, then heated on both our parts. I insisted he escalate to his manager who then called me back at 7:30 PM the same day. She was very pleasant and agreed to remove the paper charge but refused to roll the tax into my monthly billing, per my quote from the sales persons. She agreed, after another hour of discussion, to have a manager call me back today. That hasn't happened and it's now 7:00 PM. The system has only been installed for 14 days and I'm now at the point of rolling it over to yet another company. Stay away!
